How this site is funded, in plain language, and what that does and does not change.

The short answer
Crema & Grind earns affiliate commission. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may receive a commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. That is how the site is paid for, and it is disclosed on every page that carries a commercial link.
The Amazon Associates statement
Crema & Grind is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
How the links work
- 1You click a buy button. It points at a `/go` address on this site rather than directly at the retailer.
- 2That redirect adds our affiliate tag and sends you to the retailer. It happens instantly and it does not change what you pay.
- 3If you buy, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. If you do not buy, or you buy something else entirely, nothing happens.
- 4The price you pay is identical whether you arrive through our link or type the address yourself.
We route through our own domain rather than linking directly for one practical reason: it means a product's destination retailer is a single config entry we can change, rather than something buried in dozens of pages of content. That redirect is `noindex`, `nofollow` and blocked in robots.txt.
Which retailers we link to
Currently, Amazon only. We are not enrolled in any other affiliate network at present, and we will not build tracked links for a program we have not joined - which is why you will not see links here to brand-direct stores or specialist retailers with affiliate schemes we are not part of.
That has a visible consequence: some categories of equipment are largely sold through specialist dealers rather than Amazon, and we say so on those pages rather than recommending something you cannot buy. The E61 machines page is the clearest example.
What commission does not change
Commission rates vary between products and categories. They are not a factor in what we recommend, and the format of the site is designed so you can check that rather than take our word for it:
- Every roundup contains at least one product we would not buy, marked as such with the reason. That entry earns us nothing and stays anyway.
- Every product write-up has a Skip it if section naming who should not buy it.
- Several pages recommend not buying anything - dialing in an existing machine, or buying a cheaper accessory instead of a new machine.
- We name when a category cannot be bought through our retailer, rather than substituting something we can link.
Each of those costs money on the page it appears on. That is the point of them.
Prices
We do not print prices anywhere on this site. Retail prices change constantly, and a number we cannot verify at the moment you read it is a number that will be wrong.
Instead, every buy button reads Check price and takes you to the current listing. Where a price band genuinely helps a buying decision, we describe it as a tier defined in our methodology rather than as a dollar figure.

What we do not accept

Questions people actually ask
Does buying through your links cost me more?
No. The price is identical whether you arrive through our link or type the retailer's address yourself. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin.
Does affiliate commission influence what you recommend?
No, and the format is built so you can check. Every roundup contains at least one product we would not buy, every write-up names who should skip it, and several pages recommend buying nothing at all.
Which affiliate programs are you part of?
Amazon Associates only, at present. We do not build tracked links for programs we have not joined, which is why some specialist categories have no buy button here.
Why do you not show prices?
Prices change constantly, and a number we cannot verify at the moment you read it will be wrong. Every button reads 'Check price' and takes you to the current listing instead.
Do you accept free products from manufacturers?
No. We accept no samples, no loans and no sponsored placements, which removes the most common conflict of interest in gear writing.
